Library Budget

Graphic of money and coins. The text says "Budget for Success."

1. Books & Reading Materials – $300

  • Why: With the Junior Library Guild subscription already providing 4 new fiction books each month, I can use part of the budget to supplement our collection with other resources like non-fiction titles, diverse genres, or student-requested books.

  • How: I’d use the remaining funds to add new materials based on student interests and school needs. This could include classic literature, graphic novels, or more specific non-fiction titles.

2. Digital Resources & eBooks – $150

  • Why: Since the library already has access to databases like Magnolia, Plato Courseware, and USA TestPrep, I’d focus on enhancing our digital collection with eBooks or other subscription-based resources that can support student learning, especially in areas where the current resources may fall short.

  • How: I could invest in additional eBook subscriptions or digital content that aligns with the school’s curriculum and student research projects.

3. Technology Maintenance & Accessories – $200

  • Why: With 21 computers and 2 carts of Chromebooks, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and is available for students to use is key. Accessories and tech support for minor repairs will keep the equipment in good shape.

  • How: I’d allocate part of the budget to replace or buy accessories (like flash drives, cables, or additional chargers) and to support minor maintenance for computers and Chromebooks as needed.

4. Library Organization & Furniture – $150

  • Why: To maintain a clean and organized space, I’d focus on keeping the library comfortable and functional for students. Extra shelving or fun seating like bean bags can create a more inviting atmosphere.

  • How: Use this portion of the budget for additional shelves, labels, or seating to improve the library’s layout and make it more accessible and user-friendly.

5. Library Programs & Events – $200

  • Why: Engaging students with library programs, workshops, and reading challenges can help foster a community around reading and learning. This budget can also be used for incentives to encourage participation.

  • How: Use this money to host book-related events or challenges, with small prizes like erasers, bookmarks, and fidget spinners to keep students engaged and motivated.
